THE THIRD DUTSE EMIR

Born [on 27 December 1944] into a highly disciplinarian family, he imbibed right from childhood the virtues of patience, respect, tolerance, obedience, steadfastness, fear of God and devotion to the pursuance of common good, qualities that were to distinguish his character and personality among peers and colleagues. He was awarded an honorary doctorate degree by the Federal University of Technology Oweri.Nuhu Sanusi attended Dutse elementary school and Birnin Kudu Senior primary School, between 1952-1959. Thereafter admitted to the Kano Teachers College, later gained admission into Advanced Teachers College/Ahmadu Bello University in 1967.

His unquenching desire for greater excellence coupled with his parents’ unbridled encouragement saw him enrolling into Ohio University in USA where he obtained BSc Business Education with High Honors in 1972 and MBA in 1974. Thereafter he capped it all with another MSc in Project Analysis and Evaluation from Bradford University in England in 1977. Nuhu Sanusi is a widely recognized royal, who traveled to more than eighty countries around the globe is listed in who-is-who in the world, who-is-who in the commonwealth, and who-is-who in Nigeria.

He was elected member of the constituent assembly 1989. At the traditional level, he doubly served most creditably as District head of Dutse and senior Councilor in the Emirate council between 1992-1995.
Within two years in office, he set-up a strong team of selected councilors under the Senior Councilor [Basiru Muhammad Sanusi] to access and collect Zakkah throughout the emirate; built a befitting Central Mosque in the city; re-built the old palace; renovated the palace Juma’at mosque; and constructed a new palace at Sumore.
